Rocky Lawrence was killed in a motorcycle accident in Houston on Friday, March 16, 2012.
Rocky Lee Lawrence, 60, was a native Houstonian born on December 18, 1951 and was taken from us suddenly on March 16, 2012. Rocky was a devoted father, a faithful son, a loving brother, a dedicated uncle and a caring friend to all who crossed his path. He is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Lawrence and sister, Janie Dolmage. He is survived by his daughters, Brittany and Ashley Lawrence; mother, Dolores Lawrence; sister, Elizabeth Hansen; and niece and nephew, Kelly and Patrick Hansen.
Rocky grew up in the Oak Forest area and graduated from Waltrip High School in 1969. He attended Texas A&M University and went on to have a very successful career within the engineering field. Rocky currently was employed at MODEC International and was a dedicated employee, taking great pride in his work and his service, not only to the company but also to his co-workers. With his vibrant personality and infectious smile, Rocky made many close friendships throughout his life through his motorcycling groups, bowling leagues, and his daily visits to his home away from home, the Ella and West 43rd Starbucks.
Rocky was very generous and supported many charities, including the VFW, ASPCA and the Houston Symphony. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to one of the above-mentioned or any other that you choose. We love you, Rocky, and will miss your upbeat attitude, friendship and smiling face.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 21, 2012, from 6-8 p.m. at Pat H. Foley & Co. The celebration of Rocky's life will be on Thursday, March 22, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the chapel of Pat H. Foley & Co.; interment will follow at Forest Park Westheimer Cemetery, 12800 Westheimer.

I talked to Rocky quite a bit at the last reunion. Of course I knew him in high school and remember then he was such a nice, genuine guy. He was the type of guy who was friendly to everyone and not just his friends.
At the last reunion we talked about riding our Harley's to Galveston sometime and about 4 months ago he invited me to join him and some friends on a ride but I was unable to do so. I will always remember his smile and how everybody liked Rocky Lawrence. One of the real sincere guys at Waltrip.

Like most, I was truly saddened to hear of Rocky's passing.
He was truly a friend to all he met and encouraged us with that bright smile and contagious laugh.

What a sad thing to hear. It's like a family member passing away.
Rocky was full of grace and always had the biggest smile. He was fun to hang with at school. It seemed I knew Rocky well, eventhough he was just a friend from school. I got to talk to him some at the last reunion, and we did some catching up. I will miss reading about his adventures on FB.

Rocky Lawrence was a wonderful person in Hight School. We just reconnected on Facebook and swore to go have lunch someday and catch up. Unfortunatly, we didn't ever get to do that. We will truly miss you Rocky.

What a loss,everyone has such wonderful words to say. I know that a sudden death hits us harder when you don't get to say the things to that person, You feel robbed somehow,and anger a grief come on suddenly. My fondest memories are of Black Jr High and Waltrip. We watched each other grow up and move on, When someone leaves this world you just can't believe they are gone.
