Cathy Ward Swonke

I married Donald Swonke 3 days after I turned 18 and we are still married. My two bestfriends , Kathy Bell and Keith Taylor whom I have known since I was 4 years old and graduated with from Waltrip are still very close to me. We have been through good times and bad times in our lives and I would not change any of it.

I was really suppose to graduate in 1970 but I went to Summer School to graduate early so I could get married. I was not in too many school functions because School was not my top priority. Boy, was I stupid back then. I now look back and wish I would have gone to College. I wish I could see all my friemds I had in school. Some of my good friends were Ronnie Beasley and Kenny Mikolajacek .
I can remember I had a 1960 Chevrolet Impala that I drove to school everyday. I would always have to take Ronnie Beasley, Jimmy Albritton, Jimmy Parsons , Kathy Bell and Lois Goodman home from school. First, we had to stop at Jack in the Box on W.19th & Shepherd to order their Taco's which were 4 for a dollar back then. I bet we would order 50 Tacos and drinks a day. We drove the people there crazy specially Ronnie. Jimmy Albritton lived far from school so I always had to drive down Shepherd to his house. It never failed everyday in front of Sears either Ronnie or Jimmy would jump over the seat and turn off my car and take the keys and then they would hide so I would be the only one in the car and I could not go anywhere. People would be honking and yelling and they would be laughing. I think after 100 times doing that, I caught on. I miss all of them and the "good old days."
